6 Ways To Boost Your Creativity RSS 2.0 1. Listen to classical music. These classical musicians had a lot of creativity flowing through their veins at that time so if that doesn't make you more creative, you should probably see your doctor. Kidding. Or you could also try walking through museums with classic paintings and sculptures everywhere. 2. Add a hint of drama. These musicians, painters and sculptors felt a lot going on inside their heads so this is most likely another factor we shouldn?t brush aside. Focus on something you feel strongly about. It can be anything or anyone. Something you can focus on and can trigger a burst of images flashing through your head. It can be something positive or negative but the bottom line is for you to put something that has a statement on paper, on the net or wherever you want to be on. 3. Carry a small notebook and a pen with you. That way, you can quickly note down ideas that just suddenly occur to you. Then once in awhile get back to your notes. You?ll soon realize that most of it, probably like 95%, is not really that creative. But that's normal. It?s the 10% creative ideas that matter. 4. Read more books. This will boost your imagination. Try reading a lot of Harry Potter movies. These are colorful even in text. And since the story takes place in a very supernatural environment, then your imagination while reading the book is limitless. 5. If you have a certain idea in mind, or certain ideas that you just want to put together, write these down in a sheet of paper. Then try to strike a relation between the ideas. If they?re too farfetched, even an oddly-fitting idea should still work. It is, after all, the creativity we?re after and not that much of a realistic sense we?re looking for. If you have a hard time, try sketching them on a paper, try different variations of the idea. Then try to strike a relation between the ideas again. If you get tired of this, rest awhile, go to sleep, watch an animated movie (specially the really modern ones like Polar Express) and then go back to your idea collage. 6. Always try to get into a conversation about a what-if world. What if gravity didn?t exist, what if trees were ice cream or anything at all. Free your mind of the bounds set by our too-serious, too-logical world. Try to be a child again and you?ll see how ideas are just a dime a dozen out there just waiting to be grabbed. 03/25/2005
